R&R: Unexpected Pairings

Unexpected Pairings was a lifestyle-driven campaign designed to introduce Ribera y Rueda—two celebrated Spanish wine regions—to a new generation of U.S. wine drinkers. Instead of leaning on traditional tasting notes, we tapped into the cultural behaviors and preferences of millennials, building a bold, personality-forward brand story that positioned wine as an extension of personal identity. The campaign paired wine with modern lifestyle moments rather than meals, creating unexpected connections that felt authentic, relevant, and highly shareable.

  • Unexpected Pairings was born from a key insight: millennials aren’t interested in traditional wine talk—they choose products that reflect their personal brand and lifestyle. To reach this audience in a fresh and relevant way, we threw out the classic food pairings and instead paired Ribera y Rueda wines with the lifestyle moments they value most. From solo self-care nights to spontaneous road trips, each pairing reflected a vibe, not a menu.

    We also gave each wine a bold, distinct personality inspired by the people who enjoy them—turning the product into a form of self-expression. This approach allowed consumers to connect with the wines on a personal, emotional level—far beyond the glass.

  • The campaign ran as an always-on content ecosystem across social, earned, and owned channels. Every element—from concepting to styling and production—was created in-house by our team. We crafted a vibrant visual world that stood out in-feed, with thumb-stopping imagery, playful copy, and flexible formats built to work across platforms and moments.

    We introduced character-driven branding for each varietal and aligned the content with lifestyle trends and calendar moments throughout the year to stay relevant and timely.
