Alector: A Journey of Awareness and Hope

Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a rare neurodegenerative disease that causes nerve cells in the brain to lose their ability to function over time. It's the most common form of dementia among individuals under 60 years of age. Recently, the diagnosis of actor Bruce Willis has brought further attention to this debilitating condition. FTD can disrupt the lives and relationships of those affected, unraveling their existence and placing immense strain on caregivers who have to grapple with understanding the diagnosis and finding adequate support. Our goal was to introduce a solution to address this pressing need for awareness and intervention.

  • The creative concept revolved around the metaphor of unraveling lives, symbolizing the devastating effects of FTD on individuals and their loved ones. However, amidst the unraveling, Alector emphasized the message of resilience and hope by highlighting ongoing clinical trials and the potential for finding a cure. The campaign's visual identity utilized muted colors, friendly iconography and photography to evoke a comforting and reassuring feeling.

  • Website Development: A dedicated website served as a central hub for resources and information related to FTD. The design prioritized accessibility and ease of navigation, ensuring that visitors could easily find support and educational materials.

    Social Media Strategy: Alector leveraged social media and digital platforms to raise awareness about FTD and drive traffic to the website. Engaging content and targeted campaigns helped reach a wider audience and foster a sense of community among caregivers and individuals affected by FTD.

    Print: Educational materials were developed to provide comprehensive information about FTD, its symptoms, diagnosis, and available support services. Print materials were distributed to healthcare professionals, caregivers, and community organizations to increase awareness and understanding of the disease.
